The Golden Visa program in the UAE has become highly sought-after, with a notable increase in issuances reported by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) – Dubai. While the Golden Visa is traditionally available to professionals with a monthly salary of Dh30,000 or above, several categories allow individuals to apply for this coveted 10-year residency without holding a job. Here are five ways to obtain the UAE Golden Visa without being employed:

  1. Property Buyers:

    • UAE residents and foreign investors purchasing one or more properties with a total value exceeding Dh2 million can apply for the Golden Visa.
    • A significant change in Dubai's policy eliminated the previous Dh1 million down payment requirement, making it more accessible for property buyers.
  2. Cash Deposit:

    • High-net-worth individuals have the option to deposit Dh2 million with a local bank for a two-year period, qualifying for the Golden Visa.
    • Several local banks in the UAE are assisting individuals who choose this scheme to fulfill the visa requirements.
  3. Entrepreneurs:

    • The executive regulations provide flexible criteria for entrepreneurs eligible for the Golden Residency.
    • Entrepreneurs must own or partner in a startup registered in the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) category, generating annual revenues of at least Dh1 million.
    • Individuals who were founders of previous entrepreneurial projects, sold for a total value not less than Dh7 million, can also qualify for the Golden Residence.
  4. Scientists & Researchers:

    • The Golden Visa is extended to scientists and researchers with significant achievements and influence in their respective fields.
    • Recommendations from the Emirates Scientists Council are crucial for obtaining the visa.
    • Eligible candidates should hold a PhD or Master's Degree in engineering, technology, life sciences, or natural sciences from leading global universities, along with substantial research accomplishments.
  5. Outstanding Students:

    • High-achieving students in UAE secondary schools and outstanding graduates from UAE universities or the top 100 universities globally can apply for the 10-year visa.
    • Specific criteria include academic performance (cumulative average), the year of graduation, and the university classification.

These alternative pathways provide a diverse range of individuals, including property investors, high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, scientists, researchers, and outstanding students, with the opportunity to secure the prestigious UAE Golden Visa. The program aims to attract talent, encourage innovation, and contribute to the overall development of the country. With various avenues available, the Golden Visa continues to be a symbol of long-term residency for individuals contributing to the growth and prosperity of the UAE.
