Nearly 1,000 flights have been canceled in both countries.

Major UAE airlines are unaffected by tropical storm Tapah which is affecting Japan and South Korea, Khaleej Times can confirm.

An Emirates spokesperson told Khaleej Times that the storm has "no impact on our flights".

Etihad flights are also unaffected by the storm. "As of now we haven't experienced any cancellation just minor delays on the flights," an Etihad spokesperson told Khaleej Times.

The Japan Meteorological Agency has not classified the storm as a typhoon so far, terming it a tropical storm which formed in the South China Sea. It is moving in a north-northeasterly direction, between the coasts of Japan and South Korea. The storm is moving at a speed of 30kmph and generating winds of up to 108kmph and gusts of 162kmph.
