The majority of students in the UAE utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) study tools but face tech-related stress as reported by many.

The recent findings from the Studiosity Student Wellbeing Report conducted by YouGov reveal that two-thirds of students experience stress related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) while 70 per cent of those in the UAE expect their educational institutions to offer AI support tools which represents the greatest such expectation worldwide.

Students experience stress because they fear AI might give wrong information and trigger plagiarism accusations or university policy violations while also being concerned about potential data leaks.

Baz Nijjar from GEMS Education stated that staff and external partners like Microsoft, HP, and Intel lead workshops and training sessions to teach students how to use AI for their personal needs. Our working groups made up of teachers and students study how to best integrate AI literacy into our curriculum so that students can properly understand and use AI while reducing anxiety about AI’s unknown aspects or missing out.

Our educational institutions provide counselling services to help students cope with stress and we extend this support to technology-related issues when needed.

Understanding pain points

Schools strive to engage parents in their children's education by distributing resources and organizing workshops that teach about AI tools which enable effective parental support.

The heads of schools emphasized AI technologies’ potential to transform student learning through their ability to deliver customised and responsive educational experiences.
AI-driven adaptive learning systems customize educational material based on each student's unique needs to improve learning results. We recognize that implementing AI technology involves multiple challenges. We must implement proactive solutions to address valid issues like AI-assisted plagiarism and technology dependency while training students to use AI tools both effectively and ethically.

Equitable access to AI tools

Education experts stressed the need for equal AI tool access across institutions in today's technology-driven educational landscape.

Prof Judyth Sachs, Chief Academic Officer at Studiosity, says: Students who receive equitable access to university-provided tools understand that these resources are approved and suitable for learning environments. This strategy lowers stress about improper AI tool usage while ensuring every student can access identical AI resources independent of their study method or personal background.

The leadership of educational institutions pointed out that proper education and awareness stand as the real solutions rather than avoidance. Students need instruction on the proper use of AI so they learn to make it a beneficial tool while avoiding anxiety.

At Shining Star International Middle school students study AI as a skill-based subject because their cognitive abilities have developed enough to understand it. Artificial intelligence technology will remain a permanent fixture in our daily lives. We must educate children about AI because it will play a significant role in their future. It is a part of our curriculum. Our duty extends beyond teaching to preparing students for the evolving future job market. Since we cannot ignore the existence of AI technology we should adopt it. The use of AI requires careful consideration of ethical issues. Academic integrity is important.”

She expressed her support for AI technology in teaching because it helps teachers prepare lessons more efficiently.
