Indian expat dies on arrival of family in Dubai

An Indian expatriate residing in the UAE for over 15 years tragically passed away on the day his eagerly awaited family arrived in Dubai for their first visit. Despite his excitement and meticulous planning for their stay, the man suffered a fatal heart attack shortly after their arrival.

Ashraf Thamarassery, a social worker, shared insights into the expat's anticipation and preparations for his family's visit. Despite his long tenure in the UAE, he had never had the opportunity to host his family before. Thrilled by the prospect, he had diligently saved and eagerly awaited their arrival. Friends attested to his enthusiasm, noting the extensive activities he had planned to ensure their enjoyment during their stay.

However, fate took a cruel turn as the man's plans were abruptly shattered. On the day of their arrival, his joy turned to tragedy when he experienced chest pains while sharing a meal with his family at home. Despite immediate efforts to seek medical attention and rush him to the hospital, he succumbed to the heart attack.

The sudden loss left the family reeling in shock and devastation, forcing them to cut short their anticipated vacation and return home within just three days of their arrival. Following necessary administrative procedures and formalities, the man's body was repatriated, and his funeral held the following week.

In the event of an expatriate's death in the UAE, specific protocols must be followed. The family must notify relevant authorities to initiate the filing of an initial death report. Subsequently, the body is transferred to the morgue, where officials issue a death certificate declaration, necessitating police authentication and issuance of a no-objection certificate (NOC). Additional formalities are required should the family opt to repatriate the body for burial in their home country.
