The Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, has initiated a search for a "distinguished young man or woman" to take on the role of Minister of Youth Affairs in the UAE government. He called upon the nation's youth to express their interest in the position, emphasizing the importance of the candidate's knowledge of local issues, commitment to youth matters, and dedication to serving the country.

Sheikh Mohammed's Criteria

Sheikh Mohammed outlined the qualities he seeks in the ideal candidate, including a strong understanding of national issues, awareness of societal realities, proactive engagement, rational decision-making, courage, and a passionate commitment to homeland service.

High Application Response

The response to Sheikh Mohammed's call was overwhelming, with the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers receiving an astonishing 4,700 applications for the position by 6 pm on the same day.

Shamma Al Mazrui's Legacy

Shamma Al Mazrui, who held the role of Minister of State for Youth Affairs in 2016 at the age of 22, was a trailblazer in the position. She is now Minister of Community Development and was appointed Cop28 Youth Climate Champion this year. Her role primarily involves empowering young people to actively shape the nation's future and ensuring their perspectives are incorporated into government policies.
