Urdu, Pashto Among Languages that will be Taught at the Specific Mosques which will be Centered as Education Centers Sharjah has stepped in a great measure to pillar the knowledge of religion to its multicultural population by providing 93 mosques to be used by the non Arab Worlds. This is a step that is meant in ensuring that the background of languages is not a hindrance to people attending the religious teachings and the sermons.
The mosques consist of 74 in the city of Sharjah and 10 in the central region and 9 in the eastern region. Out of these mosques, these countries have religious lessons, discussions and friday sermon in english and urdu and also malayalam and pashto and tamil so as to cater for the many expatriates in the emirate.
As part of the initiative towards greater utilization of the Friday sermon, Abdullah Khalifa Al Sebousi who is head of the Sharjah Islamic Affairs Department explained that this will not be the only effort of a lot to be done.
The objective is to make sure that the sermon is a tool of teaching, instilling good values and decorum in people so that they do not just receive religion but also practical insights into life.
To do this effectively, the department does not only choose preachers with the right languages, but preachers that feel the audience and can get to their level.
They are trained on how to address people in public and other ways of communicating to help in passing the religious messages to the audience in the right way.
In order to make sure that all the worshippers feel comfortable in their home country of Sharjah, Friday sermons and religious sessions are conducted in the expat community. This initiation allows people of different classes to come and engage in the religious exercises, and learn what is relevant to them.
The particular mosques are important also as centers of conducting positive community work and education towards the spiritual development of citizens, which is a reflection of the vision of SCC towards the peaceful and inclusive society.
