Salik users in Dubai now have the option to dispute fines and seek refunds through a straightforward process provided by the toll gate operator. Motorists can utilize the Salik website or the RTA call center to initiate the dispute and, if applicable, request a refund for already paid fines. Here's a guide on how to use these tools and essential details to keep in mind while contesting Salik fines.

   - Upon completion, users instantly receive an application reference number.

5. Investigation Period:
   - The dispute request is forwarded to the violations department for investigation, taking up to 15 days.

6.  Final Status SMS:
   - Users receive the final decision (approval or rejection) through SMS.

 Call Center Process:

1.  Contact RTA's Call Center:

5.  Final Status SMS:
   - Users are notified of the final status (approval or rejection) through SMS.

  Important Points to Note:

-  Free Dispute Process:
  - Both the website and call center channels offer free-of-charge dispute services.

- Refund for Paid Fines:
  - If an application is approved, and the fine has been paid, it is canceled from the system, and the amount is refunded.
  - Customers seeking refunds must fill out an electronic refund form at any customer happiness center.

 Types of Violations:

1.  Unregistered Plate Violations (URP):
   - Levied when a motorist passes through a gate without registering the number plate within 10 working days.
   - Gradual penalties: Dh100 on the first day, Dh200 on the second day, Dh400 on the third day, and subsequent charges for further violations.

2.  Insufficient Funds Violation (IPV):
   - Applied when there are insufficient funds in the Salik account, and a motorist passes through.
   - The fine is applicable five days after the trip.

  Note:

- While the website lists additional channels (Dubai Drive App and Dubai Now App), the RTA agent clarified that these were currently not operational for disputing fines. At the time of publication, the RTA app also does not appear to offer this service.

By following these steps, Salik users can effectively dispute fines, fostering a transparent and user-friendly process for resolving toll-related issues in Dubai. Stay informed and engaged with the Salik dispute mechanisms to ensure a smooth experience on the roads.
