During a recent episode of her Miss Me podcast, Lily Allen talked about the gendered implications of the term "nepo baby" and its usage in Hollywood. The singer-songwriter expressed her displeasure with the term, believing it to be an attempt to disparage women in the music business. She drew attention to the label's uneven application, pointing out that her brother Alfie—who is also an actor—is not subjected to the same scrutiny. Allen bemoaned the term's condescending connotations, especially when applied to women approaching forty, and regretted its connection to the late actor Keith Allen, her father. Allen emphasized the need for equal treatment and recognition for women based on their individual merit, rather than their gender or family connections, while acknowledging her privileged background.
