Amidst the chaos triggered by the unprecedented rainfall in Dubai on April 16, thousands of passengers found solace in the tireless efforts of volunteers stationed at the Dubai International Airport. Collaborating with the Indian Consulate Dubai and Air India, 25 individuals from the Iman Cultural Center stepped up to assist those stranded at Terminal 2. Led by Hameed Yasin, the general secretary of the center, these volunteers swiftly sprung into action upon learning about the plight of the stranded passengers.

The scene at Terminal 2 was dire, with travelers left without basic necessities like food and water. Many were visitors who had come to Dubai for short trips, only to find their flights canceled and accommodations unavailable. With no cafeterias or restaurants nearby, the stranded passengers were in urgent need of assistance. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the volunteers wasted no time in organizing meals and essential supplies for the stranded passengers.

Over the course of five days, the volunteers tirelessly provided food, water, and other essentials to the stranded passengers. Meals were sourced from Annapoorna restaurant, ensuring both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options were available. Stationed at the arrival and departure gates of Terminal 2, some volunteers remained on duty round the clock, sacrificing their sleep and comfort to aid those in need. Their selfless dedication and unwavering commitment ensured that the stranded passengers received the support they desperately required.

As the situation at the airport gradually improved and flights resumed, a few volunteers continued to remain stationed at the airport, ready to provide assistance to any remaining passengers. Their commitment to serving the community extended beyond the immediate crisis, as they pledged to continue their support for as long as it was needed. One such beneficiary of their assistance was Sameed Mulla, whose return flight to Mangalore was canceled. Expressing his gratitude for the support he received, Mulla commended the helping nature of the UAE community.

The efforts of these volunteers exemplify the spirit of compassion and solidarity in times of adversity. Their selfless actions not only provided relief to those affected by the airport disruptions but also served as a shining example of humanity coming together to support one another in times of need. As the community in Dubai continues to recover from the aftermath of the floods, the invaluable contributions of these volunteers will be remembered and appreciated by all those whose lives they touched.
