In a bustling hall filled with creativity and conversation, one exhibition at the 10th edition of World Art Dubai stood out for its celebration of diversity and advocacy. Curated by Carlo Garrido, Spectro Lucid Art brought together artists on the autism spectrum to showcase their talents on a global platform. Carlo's journey from art collector to curator is as remarkable as his initiative to empower individuals with autism through art.

Carlo Garrido, a businessman and psychotherapist residing in Dubai, has always been passionate about art. His personal journey as an individual on the autism spectrum, combined with his love for surrealism, inspired him to curate an exhibition that celebrates diversity and creativity. Titled Spectro Lucid, the exhibition featured artworks centered around the themes of steam punk and feminism, all under the overarching umbrella of surrealism.

The title "Spectro Lucid" holds deep significance, reflecting both the unique talents of the artists and Carlo's own experiences as a lucid dreamer on the autism spectrum. Through his initiative, Carlo aimed to provide a platform for artists, especially those on the spectrum, to showcase their skills and challenge stereotypes about autism. For Carlo, being on the spectrum is not a disability but a superpower, and he wanted to spread awareness about autism and inspire others to embrace their uniqueness.

Collaborating with fellow artists on the spectrum was an enriching experience for Carlo, who believes that autistic individuals have a unique ability to hyper-focus on things they like, resulting in highly detailed artworks. Despite the challenges and stereotypes associated with autism, Carlo is determined to show the world that individuals on the spectrum are just as talented and capable as anyone else.

Through his art initiative, Carlo hopes to foster understanding and appreciation for the talents and diversity within the autism community. He believes that when people understand autism better, individuals on the spectrum will have more opportunities and be treated equally. As he continues his advocacy, Carlo remains committed to promoting art appreciation and empowering individuals with autism to pursue their passions and dreams.

From collector to curator, Carlo Garrido's journey is a testament to the transformative power of art and the resilience of the human spirit. As he continues to inspire others with his initiative, Carlo's impact extends far beyond the walls of the exhibition hall, creating a more inclusive and accepting world for individuals with autism.
