Extended hours, new zones: 3 key changes to Sharjah paid parking system

Sharjah city has been through a series of changes to its parking system since last quarter 2024 and one of them has not even started. The cultural emirate of UAE parking areas are usually marked by blue and white curb marks with signs that detail the usage and the fees.
Besides daily parking charges, you also have prepaid parking subscriptions wherein residents and businesses use the paid parking space according to plans they select.
The individual subscribers can avail of either a personal subscription for the whole of Sharjah or two local areas, and the business users an area-wide parking plan. It is based on the subscription type you choose.
From extended hours to new parking spaces, here are the three most recent parking changes in Sharjah.
Seven-day parking zones
In October 2024, Sharjah introduced new times for seven-day zones in the emirate. According to the schedules, which started from 1 November 2024, parking is now charged from 8am to midnight by drivers, whereas it used to be charged from 8am to 10pm.
Parking zones that are valid seven days in the city are marked with blue parking tags.
These 16 hour paid parking stations are open all week and on holidays. You can SMS to pay for parking charges.
Parking fee in Al Dhaid
Passengers in Sharjah’s Al Dhaid will now need to pay a parking charge when they park their cars. This began as of 1 January this year and is in place from Saturday to Thursday, 8am – 10pm.
Just like any other regular parking spaces, drivers will be allowed to park free of charge on Fridays unless you are in some zones which charges during the week, like on weekends and holidays.
Parking fee in Kalba city
Parking will start charging in Kalba city from 1 February this year, Kalba city municipality said earlier this month.
It will charge 8am-10pm on Saturdays through to Thursdays. Friday parking will be free (except in zones with fees during the week and on public holidays).
