Public employees of Dubai were notified on Thursday about the Eid Al Adha holidays.

This year, government workers will enjoy four consecutive holidays starting June 5 and ending on June 8. Public sector employees will return to work on Monday, June 9.

The Dubai Government Human Resources Department stated that those working on a shift basis, or in functions dealing with the public, or controlling public service facilities are excluded from this advisory.

Earlier this week, the UAE federal government issued a statement announcing holiday plans—work leave during the festival is available for both public and private sectors. The break is for both from June 5 to June 8.

This week on Tuesday, the moon sighting committee gathered to observe the Dhul Hijjah crescent. Following its sightings in UAE sky on Tuesday evening, May 28 has now been declared the first day of Dhul Hijjah.

Thus, the Day of Arafah will be on June 5 and the Eid Al Adha holidays will commence Friday, June 6.
