Dubai Silicon Oasis has announced a partnership with Dubai Police to establish the city’s first smart police station, which will provide around-the-clock services to the public without police officers on site.

Located in a coastal residential area and covering about 120 square meters, the smart police station is divided into three areas: a waiting area, exhibition area and service area.

After arriving at the smart police station, local residents draw a number so their business is handled orderly. In the waiting area, residents can play a safety driving game to kill time. Next to the educational game is the service area.

By clicking on an electronic board, residents can talk to police officers who are online around-the-clock in a private space. There are six service languages which support up to 60 kinds of services including paying traffic fines by cash or bank card, obtaining police certificates, reporting a case and reporting traffic accidents. In addition, people can submit the recovered property, as well as search for lost property. This will allow the station to be open 24/7, giving greater flexibility to residents and tourists alike.

Currently, two officers are dispatched to assist people at the smart police station. According to the plan though, it will be in operation independently without officers on site in the near future.

Amongst the services on offer will be the ability to open a criminal case, request the issuance of various certificates and permits, submitting lost and found enquiries, as well as allowing found items to be left at the station for collection.

In an official statement from Dubai Media Office, it was revealed that the project should be up and operational in some form later this year with more just than the currently planned Silicon Oasis location on the cards.

“The Dubai Police and DSOA will work together to develop aspects of the project and have it running this year. The DSOA will identify optimal locations for the smart police centres that provide easy access to residents, employees, and visitors, while the police will handle all logistical and development aspects of the project, and provide the necessary technology and software to operate the centres,”

The Dubai Police plans to establish a smart police station in each residence and commercial district to save people time and make accessing the police more convenient.
