Dubai new airport: First phase of Al Maktoum International to be ready by 2032

The Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) first phase will be completed by 2032, allowing a throughput of 150 million passengers annually. It will assume all operations from Dubai International Airport (DXB) once it’s fully functional, as a senior official revealed this Thursday.
In alignment with DWC’s plans, a Dh1 billion contract to construct a second runway has also been awarded. This information was also shared during The Airport Show by Khalifa Al Zaffin, Executive Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corp.
Earlier this week officials disclosed design aspects of what is being called “the most futuristic airport in the world.” Al Zaffin confirmed that negotiations with the contractors are in progress while stressing that the team is decisively working to complete the project within the scheduled timelines.
