Dubai Metro Blue Line to start operations on September 9, 2029

Dubai Metro Blue Line Project to commence operations from 9-9-2029, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said on Thursday.
It has been signed by the transport authority, whose contract is Dh20.5 billion for construction by three prominent Turkish and Chinese companies — Mapa, Limak and CRRC.
Nine is a special number in the history of the Dubai Metro and opening of the Blue Line was a nod to memory. Remember? The Dubai Metro opened at exactly in the 9th second of the 9th minute of 9pm, 9-9-2009. The Blue Line will run in parallel to the Dubai Metro’s 20th anniversary.
This 30 kilometre long and 14 station project will have 28 trains on the route. It will operate with 200,000 passengers in 2030 and 320,000 passengers by 2040.
The transport network will be able to handle 46,000 passengers per hour both ways and will ease traffic jams on the routes it covers by 20 per cent.
It will connect Dubai International Airport to key cities on the line in between 10 and 25 minutes. The nine regions namely Mirdif, Al Warqa, International City 1 and 2, Dubai Silicon Oasis, Academic City, Ras Al Khor Industrial Area, Dubai Creek Harbour and Dubai Festival City.
A few Dubai residents had in July voiced their relief at the new development and how it will help reduce cost and saving.
The new line forms part of the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which promises to be a ‘20-minute city’ – a commuting city in which residents can access 80 per cent of all their services in 20 minutes.
New sleek design
It will be the modernist and futuristic metro stations on the Blue Line, not the fully enclosed stations in the Red and Green Lines.
The futuristic stations will have a seamless curve in the architecture and the main platform will be surrounded by a huge, oval shape which loops over the tracks. The side buildings, where the exits are located on either side, are modern and symmetrical with curves.
Property prices, rentals to increase
Prices and Rents: Dubai’s commercial hotspots, International City, Silicon Oasis, Ras Al Khor, Mirdif, Al Warqa and others will also see double digit price growth connected to Dubai Metro’s new Blue Line with double-digit prices and rents.
The Metro route, the RTA said, would raise the value of property and land in the station zone by up to 25 per cent.
