Dubai: Going to Global Village? 8 rules you may not know about

Dubai’s Global Village festival park attracts millions of visitors every year including locals and tourists from every part of the globe. It is opened in the colder months, which typically starts around October, and it is shut down before the hottest summer begins.
There are various groups of people going to the place which includes food lovers, shoppers and families. It might be going to places with awesome food and dining options or seeing stunning weekly fireworks shows and an amusement park where one can enjoy rides and games.
You may have seen awesome TikToks and Instagram reels recommending Global Village as a must-visit attraction but did you check any of the rules applicable for the park? There are certain dos and don’ts which you might not know. Here is a guide:
1. Do not bring in food and drinks purchased outside the park
Did you bring a snack and a soft drink you bought at the convenience stores on your way to the Global Village? This will have to be finished as you will not be allowed to take such items into the premises and will be required to throw the rubbish in the bin before entering.
2. Don’t wave other flags apart from UAE colours
However fans should note that the UAE's national flag should not be the only flag that is permitted in the pavilions featuring some of the world's leading cultural themes across 30 countries.
3. All flags other than UAE colours may have to be put in bags.
If I notice that someone is waving a flag or banner with colours and markings from that country, I may ask them to keep it in their bags.
4. Lug your suitcase and other luggage somewhere else
In anticipation of the setting visiting areas' popularity with tourists, certain people may be aiming to stop over with such travel luggage and suitcases. Please be informed however that such bags are prohibited within the park.
5. Respect yourself and everyone else by dressing appropriately.
Men and women are also obligated to ensure that people cover up adequately. Abiding to the dress code ensures that women's crucial areas such as their torsos, shoulders, knees and legs remain clothed at all times.
5. Scooters, bikes are prohibited within the park
With the large open area of the site, children would naturally like to wheel around within the park. Nonetheless, such activities are tightly controlled. As such, any wheeled devices – including roller skates, skateboards, bicycles, and scooters – are not permitted to be used at the attraction except those which are hired at that park.
6. Do not bring your pets
Perhaps you have a pet cat, dog, tortoise or even a pet snake? Then stay at home because you won’t be allowed to bring your pets into the park. Pets are banned from the interior.
7. Avoid cuddling, kissing by members of the opposite gender
The Global Village is ideal for families but it is also famous for couples gatherings. In case you are accompanied by your loved one, promise that when you are out in public, for example, there will be no more than the hottest of hugs or kisses. Those are not gestures to endorse in Dubai and there are kids everywhere.
8. Want to shoot a video? Always get a permission before hand.
Photos and videos may be taken by visitors for personal use only, and more particularly where no commercial intent is apparent or intended. But if you are a business media company, social influencer, production house, or student on assignment, yes there is a need to be issued one. The form is in the Global Village’s site for those who wish to download it.
