Champions Trophy final in Dubai: Tickets sold out in 40 minutes after India wins semis

champions trophy final in dubai: tickets sold out in 40 minutes after india wins semis

The official website sold out all Champions Trophy final tickets in less than 40 minutes on Tuesday. The sale of all tickets including the Dh250 General Admission to Dh12,000 Sky Box started at 10pm (UAE time) and finished by 10.40pm.

Following India's intense match against Australia which saw Virat Kohli score 84 runs, Indian cricket enthusiasts are excited for the Men in Blue's upcoming game in the Champions Trophy final.

India will play against the team which wins the semi-final between New Zealand and South Africa on March 9 in Dubai. The semi-final match between New Zealand and South Africa will take place in Lahore on Wednesday.

Tickets sold out

At 10pm on Tuesday more than 100,000 people stood in line to access the ticketing page. The Indian expat Aman Kumar joined the group of people waiting for tickets. After waiting "over an hour" he learned the tickets were sold out.

When the website opened up ticket sales customers entered a queue with a limited 10-minute window to access the site. The Dubai resident aged 25 showed no signs of disappointment because he was merely testing his chances. He expressed certainty about the tickets being completely sold.

Pooja R experienced a familiar disappointment similar to her feelings when she attempted to secure tickets for the India-Pakistan game. The India-Pakistan match (considered the 'greatest rivalry' in cricket) experienced a double sell-out of tickets last month. Tickets first sold out upon release and then again when more were made available.

The Indian expat revealed she remained in an online queue for "nearly an hour" but expressed her determination to keep "cheering on team India from behind the screen".

The International Cricket Council (ICC) officially designated Dubai as a neutral venue for India's matches in December 2024. Fans from around the world have been traveling to watch the games and Indian celebrities have been seen at Dubai International Stadium.

Who will they face in the final?

South Africa will begin a difficult search for their first ICC trophy since 1998 as they face New Zealand in Lahore's Champions Trophy semi-final which occurred on Wednesday.

Since 2019 the two teams have played against each other only twice in the 50-over format with their latest match occurring in Lahore during a Tri-Series on February 10.

This time South Africa's bowling attack will feature fast bowlers Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen together with wily spinner Keshav Maharaj.
