Abu Dhabi Launches Comprehensive Free Wi-Fi Network
In a significant move towards enhanced connectivity, the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) in Abu Dhabi has introduced a widespread free Wi-Fi initiative, covering key locations throughout the emirate. This inclusive program, delivered in collaboration with prominent UAE service providers, ensures residents and visitors can access complimentary Wi-Fi services in various public spaces, including buses, parks, and beaches.
The initiative encompasses 19 public parks in Abu Dhabi, 11 in Al Ain, and 14 in the Al Dhafra Region, providing seamless connectivity for individuals enjoying recreational spaces. Future plans include extending this service to popular locations like Abu Dhabi Corniche beach and Al Bateen beach, further enhancing accessibility.
Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of DMT, expressed pride in offering this service, emphasizing the commitment to connectivity across diverse locations. Abu Dhabi's impressive global ranking, securing the 13th position out of 141 cities in the IMD Smart City Index 2023, highlights the emirate's dedication to openness, innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability. This move aligns with Abu Dhabi's smart city development goals and reinforces its position as a technologically advanced and connected urban center.
