Some 2,850 geometric lightings have been installed across the city in time for the upcoming Eid Al Adha celebrations.

Thousands of decorative lights on streets, bridges and public squares have started greeting Abu Dhabi residents 'Eid Mubarak', ahead of the festive week.

Some 2,850 geometric lightings have been installed across the city in time for the upcoming Eid Al Adha celebrations, according to the Abu Dhabi Municipality.

"Abu Dhabi is basking in glittering lights, radiating an atmosphere of faith, tranquility, and exclusivity," said the municipality.

"The decorative lighting project, undertaken by the Abu Dhabi City Municipality, featured Islamic configurations inspired by the spirit of Eid Al Adha, adding more beauty and serenity to the streets and suburbs of the Capital." This year, the municipality has introduced new designs, such as lanterns hanging on trees, in a bid to share the joy and lift the community's spirits.

The municipality is aiming to place more lighting models on domes, crescents, and rostrums of mosques.

Several areas, including the King Abdullah Street, the Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street, the Sheikh Zayed Street, bridges, roundabouts and other public facilities in Abu Dhabi and suburban areas, are all aglow for Eid.

Eid Al Adha, or the 'festival of sacrifice, marks the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son out of faith in Allah.
