A four-day Eid Al Adha holiday has been announced for citizens in the UAE next month, regardless of when the moon is sighted. With clear dates emerging for the Islamic holiday, many are rushing to book quick getaways.

Mohammed from Smart Travel states, “The holidays announced by Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait have already made the probable dates for Eid holidays clearer for UAE residents.” He goes on to mention, “We have received a lot of enquiries and bookings. Most of the travel is gravitating towards visa-free places like CIS countries.”  


Last week Qatar announced a five-day break for Eid Al Adha that commences on the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah or Arafah Day, the holiest day of the Islam religion. 


Sold out packages


Many operators in travel have expressed that have noticed high demand for their Eid packages. Akbar Travels’ Mohamed Kasim revealed that nearly all sales of their tours have reached an all time high. “Apart from the CIS countries, some other of their most sought after destinations are Egypt and Kenya.” Kasim added, “A lot of people are embarking on visiting Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya.”  


According to Marcopolo Holidays’ Kunaal Nanik, he notices a ‘clear shift’ in trends for Eid holidays add that change is much more evident due to the current social climate. “People seem to be better prepared and plans set way ahead of time, with preference set to longer trips.”  


“With Eid falling in the summer, there seems to be no lack of options and preference set to Europeans especially those who applied early for with special Schengen visas demonstrating clear understanding of limited availability for appointments,” concludes the travelers.

We are also noticing greater attention in Balkans where there is feasible access for those in possession of long-term muliple entry US, UK or Schengen visa due to visa-on-arrival being accessible.

A notable number of travelers prefer four-night, five-day trips for Eid, which was of great interest to price, he said. “For leisure travel, the most popular package we have seen is our trip to Baku which sold for Dh1,999,” he noted. “We had trips to Tashkent for Dh2,100 and a joint trip to Armenia and Georgia for Dh2,599.”

This year, May 27 falls on a Tuesday which is 29th Dhul Qadah. If a crescent moon is sighted on Tuesday's evening, then May 28 will be first Dhul Hijjah. Which means Eid will be celebrated on 6th June, Friday.

If his crescent moon sighting does not happen then May 29 will Dhul Hijjah. So Eid could happen on 29th June, Saturday. Most of peasants of Saudi are advise to observe sky on the evening of Tuesday for crescent of dwelling.As per the United Arab Emirates Cabinet decision, the holidays for Eid Al Adha are from the 9 to 12 Dhul Hijjah which marks the day of Arafah and the first three days of Eid Al Adha. An International Astronomical Center (IAC) expert claimed the crescent moon marking the start of Dhul Hijjah can be seen on May 27.
