Will Smith, Martin Lawrence share 'little things' about each other that annoy them
Actors Will Smith and Martin Lawrence have long been known for their on-screen chemistry and real-life friendship, a dynamic that has powered the "Bad Boys" film franchise since its debut in 1995. Despite their close bond, the duo admits that they still find certain quirks about each other slightly annoying. At the Los Angeles premiere of "Bad Boys: Ride or Die," the two stars opened up about these minor irritations.
Martin Lawrence pointed out that Will Smith's constant need to rehearse can be a bit much at times. "He likes to rehearse all the time," Lawrence shared. Smith, on the other hand, laughed and admitted to this habit, but also noted a peculiar quirk of Lawrence's. "He never takes two sips out of a water bottle," Smith said. "He drinks the whole water bottle in one go, every time. It's like, 'Yo, man!'" Lawrence playfully defended himself, saying, "That's because I can't babysit water."
As they celebrated the upcoming release of their latest film, Smith and Lawrence reflected on their journey with the "Bad Boys" series. The fourth installment, "Bad Boys: Ride or Die," is set to hit UAE cinemas on June 6. This movie sees the return of their characters, Miami detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, who are now on the run after their deceased commanding officer, Captain Conrad Howard (played by Joe Pantoliano), is accused of misconduct.
The production of this film faced significant challenges. Filming began in Atlanta in April 2023 but was halted in July due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. Production resumed after the strike ended and wrapped up in March 2024. Despite these delays, the cast and crew managed to complete the film, which has generated significant anticipation among fans.
The new movie promises to be a thrilling ride, with a plot that continues the legacy of action and humor the series is known for. Alongside Smith and Lawrence, the film features a star-studded cast, including Vanessa Hudgens, Eric Dane, Alexander Ludwig, Tasha Smith, Ioan Gruffudd, Tiffany Haddish, Paola Nunez, Jacob Scipio, and Melanie Liburd. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who directed the third film, "Bad Boys for Life," are back at the helm for this installment.
The trailer hints at a high-stakes adventure with Mike and Marcus navigating dangerous situations and intense confrontations. Their camaraderie and comedic timing, hallmarks of the franchise, are expected to shine through once again.
As fans eagerly await the release of "Bad Boys: Ride or Die," the anecdotes shared by Smith and Lawrence offer a glimpse into their enduring friendship and professional partnership. Their ability to laugh at each other's quirks while delivering high-energy performances on screen continues to be a significant draw for audiences worldwide.
