Will Danny DeVito reprise his Batman role in a new film alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger?
In a recent interview, Danny DeVito expressed openness to reprising his role as The Penguin alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in a new Batman film. DeVito, known for his portrayal of the iconic villain in the 1992 film Batman Returns, discussed the possibility of working with Schwarzenegger again, who famously played Mr. Freeze in the 1997 movie Batman & Robin.
DeVito's comments have sparked speculation among fans about the potential for a reunion of the two actors in a future Gotham City superhero film. Reflecting on the idea, DeVito remarked, "I don't think it's a bad idea because you got Keaton, you got [Schwarzenegger], you got DeVito. We could do those same parts. Yeah, why not?"
The actor's willingness to revisit his role as The Penguin comes as exciting news for Batman enthusiasts who fondly remember his portrayal of the devious character opposite Michael Keaton's Batman. In Tim Burton's Batman Returns, DeVito's performance captivated audiences with his prosthetic nose, pointed teeth, and distinct appearance.
Schwarzenegger, on the other hand, brought the chilling character of Mr. Freeze to life in Batman & Robin, portraying the scientist Victor Fries who transforms into the icy villain after a tragic accident. Despite playing antagonistic roles in the Batman franchise, DeVito and Schwarzenegger share a close friendship in real life, having previously co-starred in the 1998 comedy film Twins.
While DeVito's comments have stirred excitement among fans, it remains to be seen whether Warner Bros. and MGM will consider revisiting these iconic characters and casting the duo in a new Batman film. However, the prospect of seeing DeVito and Schwarzenegger team up again on the big screen has certainly ignited curiosity and anticipation within the entertainment industry and among moviegoers alike.
