The UAE's meteorological department has issued a warning about unstable weather conditions, forecasting heavy rains and thunderstorms starting from Sunday. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) anticipates an increase in cloud cover, leading to light to moderate rainfall, with the possibility of heavier downpours accompanied by lightning and thunder. These conditions are expected to result from a deepening upper-air trough, bringing scattered showers and strong winds across the region.

According to the advisory issued on Tuesday night, the impending weather changes are expected to lead to a noticeable drop in temperatures. While the rain is forecasted to ease by Tuesday evening, the Met Department has cautioned against potential hazards associated with the inclement weather.

In addition to rainfall, strong winds are anticipated, shifting from south-easterly to north-easterly and eventually northwesterly directions. These winds, described as moderate to fresh and possibly reaching strong gusts, could trigger blowing dust and sand storms, significantly reducing visibility on the roads. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and stay informed about changing weather conditions to ensure safe travel.

The impact of the unstable weather is not limited to land, as sea conditions are also expected to be affected. The Arabian Gulf is forecasted to experience light to moderate waves, potentially becoming rough to very rough during periods of heavy cloud cover. Similarly, the Oman Sea may witness rough seas, especially in areas with convective clouds.

Khaleej Times had previously reported on the possibility of rain in the last 10 days of March, indicating the anticipated weather pattern. Coastal areas are expected to receive lighter rainfall ranging between 10mm and 40mm, while internal areas may experience heavier precipitation between 50mm and 80mm.

Abu Dhabi is expected to receive varying intensities of rainfall, with coastal areas likely to receive a total of 10mm to 20mm of precipitation, while internal areas may see between 25mm to 50mm of total rain. Similarly, Dubai and Sharjah are forecasted to experience significant rainfall, with coastal areas expecting between 15mm and 50mm of total accumulated precipitation.

The advisory serves as a reminder for residents and authorities to prepare for the upcoming weather changes and take necessary precautions to mitigate any potential risks. With heavy rains, thunderstorms, and strong winds expected, it is essential for individuals to stay informed through official weather updates and adhere to safety guidelines provided by relevant authorities.

As the UAE braces for the anticipated weather conditions, cooperation and vigilance from all sectors of society are crucial to ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone in the community. By staying vigilant and prepared, residents can effectively navigate through the challenges posed by the unstable weather and minimize any adverse impacts on daily life and activities.
