UAE Weather: Rainfall Hits Parts of Country, Cloud Cover Continues
In the early hours of this morning, residents across parts of the United Arab Emirates woke up to the soothing sound of raindrops patterning their windows, as showers graced Abu Dhabi and the Al Dhafra region. This unexpected yet welcomed precipitation is a rare sight in this arid region, where rainfall is typically a fleeting phenomenon. However, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) reported that cloud cover is set to persist throughout the day, with a possibility of light to moderate rainfall in coastal, southern, and eastern areas. Although the rain may be brief, it brings with it a refreshing change in weather patterns, offering respite from the usual scorching temperatures that dominate the UAE landscape.
Accompanying the rainfall are light to moderate winds, which may freshen at times. The NCM has issued an alert for the formation of rainy clouds in specific areas, as indicated on the provided map. While the rain may inconvenience some, it serves as a reminder of the beauty and diversity of nature, enriching the desert landscape with much-needed nourishment.
As the day progresses, temperatures are expected to soar, with highs reaching up to 36ºC in certain parts of the country. In Abu Dhabi and Dubai, temperatures are forecasted to peak at 32ºC and 31ºC respectively, offering a contrast to the cooler temperatures experienced in the morning. However, even as the mercury climbs, there remains a noticeable drop in temperature during the night, with lows of 20ºC in Abu Dhabi, 21ºC in Dubai, and 12ºC in mountainous regions. This fluctuation in temperature highlights the dynamic nature of the UAE's climate, where days can be scorching hot and nights surprisingly cool.
Humidity levels are also expected to vary, particularly during the night and Friday morning, especially in coastal and internal areas, with a probability of mist formation. Humidity levels are projected to range from 15 to 70 per cent in Abu Dhabi and from 30 to 70 per cent in Dubai. This moisture in the air adds to the atmospheric conditions, creating a milder, more temperate climate that contrasts with the dry heat characteristic of the region.
For those venturing out to sea, conditions are relatively calm, with slight seas expected in the Arabian Gulf and slight to moderate seas at times in the Oman Sea. This provides an opportunity for maritime activities, albeit with caution, as weather conditions can change rapidly at sea.
In conclusion, while rainfall may be a rare occurrence in the UAE, its presence today serves as a reminder of the unpredictability and diversity of the country's climate. As residents enjoy the soothing sound of rain and cooler temperatures, it's a moment to appreciate the transient beauty that nature bestows upon this desert landscape. So, whether you're indoors listening to the rain or out exploring the rejuvenated surroundings, take a moment to savor the unique experience that is UAE weather.
