UAE introduces new payment plan for medical bills in easy instalments
Unforeseen medical expenses can significantly strain household budgets, disrupting even the most meticulously planned finances. Addressing this concern, the UAE's Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has introduced an 'easy payment initiative' that allows customers to pay for medical services in instalments using their credit cards. This initiative, launched in collaboration with eight local banks, aims to ease the financial burden on individuals and families.
Cardholders can benefit from this plan by applying through their bank’s call center or other available channels. The participating banks include Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB), Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD), Emirates Islamic Bank, Emirates NBD, Ajman Bank, and Sharjah Islamic Bank.
The easy payment plan is available to both individual and corporate customers holding credit cards from these banks. It allows them to pay the ministry’s service fees in instalments over 3, 6, 9, or 12 months for amounts starting from Dh1,000. The terms and conditions, including profit rates and installment periods, are set by the respective banks to enhance customer satisfaction.
To apply for the easy payment plan, customers must first pay the required fees using their credit cards. After the payment, they can contact their bank via the call center or smart application to convert the transaction into an installment plan. The minimum fee amount to avail of this service is Dh1,000.
