UAE astronomer captures 'giant flames from sun' as strongest solar storm hits Earth
As an 'extreme' solar storm hit Earth, UAE astronomer Mohammad Odeh captured images of giant flames erupting from the sun. These rare emissions caused disturbances in the planet's magnetic field, leading to the majestic northern lights. Odeh photographed the phenomenon using special telescopes at the International Astronomy Centre's Astronomical Seal Observatory in Abu Dhabi. The solar storm, triggered by a massive sunspot cluster, resulted in several coronal mass ejections threatening disruptions to power grids and satellites. Despite missing out on the northern lights, Odeh's images offer a glimpse into the fascinating celestial event.
