A groundbreaking development in traffic management technology is on the horizon in the UAE, as authorities reveal plans to introduce smart traffic signal drones aimed at alleviating congestion during emergencies. The announcement came during the World Police Summit (WPS) in Dubai, where innovations in policing and road safety take center stage.

According to representatives from the Ministry of Interior, the smart traffic signal drone serves as a vital tool in mitigating traffic disruptions caused by emergencies or malfunctioning traffic lights. Currently in prototype stage, the drone is undergoing final checks before production commences.

The WPS, a prestigious gathering of law enforcement agencies from 138 countries, including renowned entities such as the FBI, NYPD, and INTERPOL, serves as a platform for showcasing cutting-edge policing technologies, cybersecurity measures, and road safety initiatives. Attendees engage in discussions on crime prevention, forensics, and mobility, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among global thought leaders.

The smart traffic signal drone, constructed using 3D printing technology, boasts a flight time of up to 25 minutes on a single charge, providing temporary traffic control until law enforcement patrols arrive at the scene. A Ministry of Interior spokesperson expressed optimism about the drone's potential, highlighting its innovative design and functionality.

Among the array of innovative gadgets showcased at the WPS, the robotic sniper, known as the UAE Sniper, garnered significant attention. Developed by Ajman Police, this robotic device utilizes paintball technology to mark suspected criminals or suspicious locations, enhancing operational efficiency and officer safety.

Describing the device's operational capabilities, a spokesperson emphasized its air pressure mechanism for paintball discharge, achieving an impressive 98 percent accuracy rate. Equipped with two cameras and batteries, the robotic sniper can be remotely controlled, allowing for precise targeting and surveillance. Future iterations are slated to include a 360-degree camera for enhanced situational awareness.

The WPS, hosted at the Dubai World Trade Centre, offers residents a firsthand glimpse into the latest advancements in law enforcement equipment. Attendees can explore various exhibits, including an e-shooter range by the Ministry of Interior, providing an interactive experience with laser gun technology.

In conclusion, the introduction of smart traffic signal drones and innovative policing technologies underscores the UAE's commitment to enhancing public safety and traffic management. The WPS serves as a dynamic platform for showcasing groundbreaking initiatives and fostering collaboration among global law enforcement agencies.
