Taxi fares reduced in this emirate as fuel prices drop
Starting tomorrow (June 1), commuters in Ajman will benefit from reduced taxi fares, following a recent announcement by Ajman Transport. The new fare rate is set at Dh1.84 per kilometre, down from Dh1.88 per kilometre in May, marking a decrease of 4 fils. This reduction aligns with the UAE's latest adjustment to fuel prices, which sees a significant drop of 20 fils per litre for June.
The revised fuel prices, effective from June 1, are as follows: Super 98 petrol will cost Dh3.14 per litre, Special 95 will be priced at Dh3.02, and E-plus 91 will be available for Dh2.95. These reductions provide considerable savings for residents, especially car owners, who can save up to Dh14.80 for every full tank they fill this month, depending on their vehicle's fuel capacity.
The decision to reduce taxi fares is directly influenced by the decreased fuel costs, reflecting a responsive adjustment by the transport authorities in Ajman to make commuting more affordable for residents. This move is part of a broader effort to ensure that the benefits of lower fuel prices are passed on to consumers, thereby easing the cost of living and promoting greater economic efficiency.
In addition to benefiting individual commuters, the reduction in taxi fares is expected to positively impact the local economy by making transportation more accessible and affordable. This adjustment is particularly significant for daily commuters and those who rely heavily on taxi services for their transportation needs.
Overall, the fare reduction is a welcome relief for many residents of Ajman, who can now enjoy more affordable transportation options. This move underscores the importance of aligning transport costs with fuel price trends, ensuring that the economic benefits of lower fuel prices are shared across the community.
As the new rates take effect, it is anticipated that both taxi drivers and passengers will experience the positive impacts of these changes. For taxi drivers, the adjustment may lead to an increase in ridership due to the lower costs for passengers, potentially balancing out the lower per-kilometre fare. For passengers, the reduced rates offer a tangible benefit, making it cheaper to travel across the emirate.
Stay tuned for further updates and adjustments from Ajman Transport and other local authorities as they continue to monitor and respond to fuel price fluctuations.
