In preparation for the upcoming Eid Al Adha, the slaughterhouses in Abu Dhabi will operate from 6:00 am until 5:30 pm every day throughout the week, as announced by Abu Dhabi municipality on the social media platform X. These extended hours are set to accommodate the increased demand during the festive season, which is expected to begin around June 15.

To ensure smooth operations, the Abu Dhabi City Municipality has expanded the capacity of its slaughterhouses to handle approximately 37,000 sacrifices and carcasses. Additionally, the municipality has increased the workforce by adding more butchers, maintenance crews, and personnel responsible for the distribution of sacrifices and meats.

The outdoor areas of the slaughterhouses have been equipped with air-conditioned tents and shaded pathways, along with providing chilled drinking water to accommodate the growing number of visitors. Special consideration is given to people of determination and senior citizens who frequent the facilities.

The municipality has designated the Abu Dhabi Automated Slaughterhouse in the Zayed Port area for sacrifices requested by the Red Crescent and through smart applications. Meanwhile, Bani Yas Slaughterhouse and Al Wathba Automated Slaughterhouse are allocated for sacrifices from the general public, and Al Shahama Automated Slaughterhouse will handle requests from both smart applications and the public.

To manage the increased demand, Bani Yas slaughterhouse will have 150 butchers assigned to process around 13,000 sacrifices and carcasses. The Abu Dhabi Automated Slaughterhouse will have 50 butchers handling approximately 10,000 sacrifices, Al Shahama Automated Slaughterhouse will have 50 butchers processing around 7,000 sacrifices, and Al Wathba Automated Slaughterhouse will have 45 butchers for about 7,000 sacrifices.

Each slaughterhouse will have specialized veterinary medical staff to examine animals before slaughtering and to conduct thorough inspections afterward to ensure the meat is safe for consumption. This is to guarantee the production of healthy meat and to safeguard community health.

The public can conveniently request sacrifices through various smartphone applications such as "Zabehaty," "Zabayeh Al Jazeera," "Dhabayeh UAE," and "Halal Mazarana." These apps allow users to select the type of sacrifice, its category, weight, cutting preferences, and the desired delivery location.

The municipality urges the public to refrain from slaughtering animals outside the approved slaughterhouses, as this is a violation punishable under Law No. (2) of 2012 concerning the Maintenance of the General Appearance, Health, and Public Tranquility in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Inspection Directorate teams in the municipality's sub-centers will monitor and impose fines on violators to ensure compliance.

By enhancing the facilities and workforce at the slaughterhouses and providing convenient services through smart applications, the Abu Dhabi City Municipality aims to ensure a smooth and efficient process for the community during Eid Al Adha.
