Dutch football star Quincy Promes, who was recently convicted in absentia by an Amsterdam court, has reportedly been apprehended by authorities in Dubai following a request from Dutch prosecutors for his extradition. The conviction stemmed from his involvement in cocaine smuggling and resulted in a six-year prison sentence.

While prosecutors did not explicitly confirm Promes' identity, they stated that a 32-year-old individual residing in Moscow had been detained in Dubai. Promes, who currently plays for Spartak Moscow, fits this description. Dutch prosecutors typically refrain from disclosing the names of suspects involved in criminal cases.

The Amsterdam Public Prosecution office revealed that the arrest was executed based on a Red Notice issued by the Netherlands, indicating their intention to seek the individual's extradition. According to various media reports, Promes was reportedly residing luxuriously in Dubai before his arrest.
