Pre-Ramadan Food Safety Inspections in Dubai
Dubai Municipality has ramped up its efforts in monitoring and inspecting food safety standards at supermarkets, hotels, and various other establishments ahead of the holy month of Ramadan. These intensified campaigns encompass a wide range of sectors, including markets, commercial centers, food preparation facilities, restaurants, hypermarkets, and more.
In addition to traditional food establishments, the Municipality's inspections also extend to salons, beauty centers, smoking areas in cafes and restaurants, as well as gaming and events venues. Even labor cities and community markets across Dubai are not exempt from scrutiny, as the authorities aim to ensure comprehensive adherence to safety and hygiene standards.
As part of its commitment to upholding public health standards during Ramadan, the Municipality is actively overseeing compliance with safety regulations and food safety standards. This involves strict adherence to approved food safety protocols throughout the entire food preparation process, from storage to cooking, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the quality and validity of food ingredients.
Sultan Al Taher, Director of the Food Safety Department at Dubai Municipality, emphasized the focus on monitoring food preparation establishments, popular kitchens, warehouses, food and consumer complexes, hotels, hypermarkets, and markets during Ramadan. The primary objective is to ensure that residents in the emirate have access to nutritious, secure, and safe food that meets the highest food safety standards.
To facilitate these monitoring efforts, the Municipality has made adjustments to the opening hours of certain locations during Ramadan. Specifically, Al Quoz, Al Lesili, Al Qusais, and Hatta will operate from 8 am to 4 pm from Saturday to Thursday, with adjusted hours on Fridays from 8 am to 12 pm and from 2 pm to 4 pm.
These measures underscore Dubai Municipality's commitment to safeguarding public health and ensuring food safety during Ramadan, a period marked by increased consumption and communal gatherings. By proactively monitoring and inspecting various establishments, the Municipality aims to maintain the highest standards of hygiene and safety throughout the emirate.
Residents and businesses are encouraged to cooperate with the Municipality's inspections and adhere to food safety guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable Ramadan experience for all. By prioritizing food safety and public health, Dubai Municipality aims to uphold its reputation as a leading destination for residents and visitors alike.
