Over 220 cars impounded for illegally transporting passengers
In recent operations, over 220 cars were impounded in Dubai for illegal passenger transport. Penalties include fines up to Dh50,000 and vehicle confiscation. The crackdown, conducted by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in coordination with the Dubai Police General HQ, targeted areas prone to unauthorized passenger transport activities. Specifically, inspections were carried out around Terminals 1, 2, and 3 of Dubai Airports (DXB), resulting in the impoundment of 90 vehicles. Additionally, 86 illegal vehicles were seized in Hatta, while 49 cars were impounded in the Jebel Ali area. Saeed Al Balooshi, Director of Passenger Transport Activities Monitoring at RTA's Public Transport Agency, emphasized the collaborative efforts to combat unlicensed passenger transport. Violations for unauthorized passenger transport and promotion of such services were issued. The penalties for illegal passenger transport, as per Executive Council Resolution No. (20) of 2021, include fines up to Dh30,000 for individuals and up to Dh50,000 for companies.
