Spread over an expansive area of 132,000 square meters, this picturesque water body is more than just a scenic attraction—it serves as a strategic water reservoir, ensuring the well-being of the community.
Situated along the Sharjah-Kalba Road, after the Al Hiyar Tunnel, Al Hefaiyah Lake offers visitors a tranquil escape from the bustling city life. Surrounding the lake is a 3.17-kilometer dual-lane road, perfect for leisurely strolls while soaking in the breathtaking views. Moreover, a sprawling play area covering 620 square meters awaits children, promising endless fun and adventure.
The inauguration of Al Hefaiyah Lake was a momentous occasion, graced by the esteemed presence of Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, along with other dignitaries. Sheikh Dr. Sultan's vision for sustainable development and environmental conservation shines through in this ambitious project, which incorporates innovative technologies and eco-friendly practices.
Constructed with the latest advancements in engineering and design, Al Hefaiyah Lake boasts a range of features geared towards water conservation and management. Innovative construction materials suited for hilly climates ensure the lake's durability and longevity. Moreover, a sophisticated system of pipes links the surrounding mountains to the lake, facilitating the storage of surplus water, rainwater collection, and efficient management of valley run-off.
With a vast capacity of 155 million gallons and a maximum depth of four meters, Al Hefaiyah Lake is not only a scenic wonder but also a vital resource for the region. The meticulous planning behind its creation includes the installation of three barriers and filters to purify the water from contaminants and sediments, ensuring its pristine quality.
For outdoor enthusiasts, the mountain trail alongside the lake offers an exhilarating experience, spanning 11.7 kilometers. From the Al Hefaiyah Lake Trail to the Eastern and Southern Mountain Trails, there's something for every adventure seeker. Nature enthusiasts can immerse themselves in the stunning landscapes, with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
Adding to the allure of Al Hefaiyah Lake is the magnificent Al Hefaiyah Mosque, an architectural masterpiece designed in the Fatimid style. Boasting intricate geometric and floral motifs, the mosque is not only a place of worship but also a symbol of cultural heritage. With a capacity to accommodate 495 worshippers, it serves as a spiritual sanctuary for the community.
Adjacent to the mosque lies the Al Hefaiyah Rest House, offering visitors a serene retreat amidst nature's bounty. With direct views of the lake and Kalba's majestic mountains, the rest house provides the perfect setting for relaxation and rejuvenation. Additionally, an expansive play area and green space ensure that families can enjoy quality time amidst the scenic surroundings.
In essence, Al Hefaiyah Lake epitomizes Sharjah's dedication to sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and community well-being.
