Jeffery Wright joins Denzel Washington in Spike Lee’s ‘High and Low’

Fresh from his recent Oscar nomination for Best Actor, Jeffrey Wright is now preparing for his next cinematic venture, Spike Lee's 'High and Low'. This film, also featuring Denzel Washington, marks a collaboration between Apple Original Films and A24. Production is scheduled to commence this month.

According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter, 'High and Low' is a contemporary reinterpretation in English of Akira Kurosawa's classic film of the same name. The original 1963 Japanese movie followed the story of a shoe company executive who finds himself entangled in a complicated corporate takeover. However, his plans are derailed when his chauffeur's son is accidentally kidnapped and held for ransom instead of his own child.

Spike Lee, known for his previous work with Denzel Washington in the 2006 film 'Inside Man', is set to direct the upcoming thriller. Lee co-wrote the script with Alan Fox. The project has been developed and produced by A24, in collaboration with Escape Artists and Mandalay Pictures.

Joining Wright and Washington in the cast of 'High and Low' is Ilfenesh Hadera. The film is slated for a theatrical release by A24 before its global debut on Apple TV+, although an official release date has not yet been announced.
