How John Krasinski got George Clooney, Ryan Reynolds to join 'IF'
How 'IF' director John Krasinski enlisted Ryan Reynolds and George Clooney
Among the many voice actors contributing to the animated fantasy feature are Steve Carrell, Matt Damon, and Emily Blunt.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that American actor and filmmaker John Krasinski discussed the process of securing the participation of A-list actors and actresses in his film IF.
On Jimmy Fallon's The Tonight Show, he said, "I have to admit, the most yeses of my career were on this film and the fastest yes," because everyone loves the idea of reminiscing about one's childhood imagination.
"I don't know why when I created this guy, in my head, I was like, 'He's from Philly, and he's a little bummed to be living in Arizona.'" Bradley Cooper, who voices the ice cube, continued, "I don't know why."
Then Jimmy Fallon showed a picture of Blake Lively's character, who Krasinski described as "a cat who's getting over her fear of water, so she dresses like an octopus." He made fun of the fact that he had to resort to "emotional blackmail" to convince the Gossip Girl actress to star alongside Ryan Reynolds in the picture.
"I was like, 'Everybody's doing it,'" "The Office" actor stated. "She was so nice to jump on board."
Among the most impressive special guests to appear on "IF," the Tonight Show host was taken aback by George Clooney's surprise casting as the voice of the Spaceman.
An Easter egg with a deep cut, Krasinski said in jest. "That's his character from Gravity in my head, that he's still just floating around."
The Hollywood Reporter states that the voice actors for the fantasy film include Awkwafina, Louis Gossett Jr., Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Maya Rudolph, Sam Rockwell, Steve Carrell, Matt Damon, Jon Stewart, Awkwafina, Chris Meloni, Sebastian Maniscalco, and Richard Jenkins.
