Dubai is offering a unique opportunity for artists to leave their mark on the city's landscape with an open call for innovative art proposals for roundabouts. Announced by Dubai Culture in partnership with the Dubai Municipality and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), this initiative invites Emirati and UAE-based artists, designers, and architects to submit creative ideas for distinctive art installations.

The initiative is aimed at integrating local art into the urban environment, enriching Dubai’s cityscape, and highlighting the emirate’s cultural diversity. These art installations are intended to enhance major roundabouts, blending artistic practices with Dubai's dynamic urban and natural settings.

Applications for this open call began on Tuesday, June 11, and will be accepted until the submission deadline on July 11. A panel of experts and artists will review the submissions and select the most promising projects. Each selected project will receive a cash prize, covering the costs of design, materials, manufacturing, and implementation at the designated locations.

To participate, artists and creatives can download the application form and find more details about the open call on the Dubai Culture website: [https://dubaiculture.gov.ae/en/events/Roundabout-Open-Call-24](https://dubaiculture.gov.ae/en/events/Roundabout-Open-Call-24).

 Requirements for Submission

Applicants must submit proposals that showcase their commitment to innovation and reflect the local cultural diversity. The use of sustainable materials is essential, as the artworks must be durable enough to withstand environmental and weather changes, including high temperatures, without disrupting traffic flow at the roundabouts. Additionally, each proposal must include a comprehensive work plan that ensures the safety and security of both the public and the artwork.

Submissions must be original, contemporary, and not previously exhibited or produced. The participating artists or groups should have extensive experience in creating installation artworks.

 Objectives and Vision

This open call is part of a broader initiative by Dubai Culture to commission installation artworks that transform the city’s streets, neighborhoods, and public areas into cultural and touristic destinations. The project aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan, which focuses on enhancing the quality of life for residents through people-centric development.

By inviting local artists to contribute to the urban landscape, Dubai aims to create a more vibrant, culturally rich environment that reflects the city’s diversity and artistic talent. This initiative not only provides a platform for artists to showcase their work but also enhances the aesthetic appeal of the city’s infrastructure, making it more engaging for both residents and visitors.

In summary, this open call represents a significant opportunity for UAE-based artists to play a role in shaping Dubai's urban landscape. With a focus on innovation, sustainability, and cultural diversity, the initiative promises to add unique artistic expressions to the city’s roundabouts, enriching the visual and cultural experience of Dubai.
