FedEx Express (FedEx) has unveiled its state-of-the-art Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Africa (MEISA) hub at Dubai World Central (DWC) Airport in Dubai South, signaling a significant expansion of its operational footprint in the region. The inauguration ceremony, attended by key dignitaries including Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum and FedEx executives, marks a substantial long-term investment of over $350 million (Dh1.3 billion) into the UAE's economy through infrastructure and technological advancements.
Spanning an impressive 57,000 square meters, the new facility integrates cutting-edge technologies to streamline package processing and distribution operations. Moreover, the facility is equipped with two automated high-speed x-ray machines featuring artificial intelligence capabilities, bolstering security measures while expediting the scanning process. In alignment with Dubai Municipality Green Standards, the facility incorporates sustainable practices, including a solar power project and an efficient building management system to optimize energy consumption. Leveraging eco-friendly initiatives, FedEx has introduced an electric ground service fleet along with electric charging stations to support environmentally-conscious operations for pick-up, delivery, and employee vehicles.
