Ex-Pakistan PM Imran Khan acquitted in state secrets case, but to stay in jail
Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has been acquitted of leaking state secrets, but he will stay in jail due to a separate conviction. Khan, along with his former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, was cleared of charges related to making public a classified cable sent to Islamabad by Pakistan's ambassador in Washington in 2022. Despite the acquittal, Khan remains imprisoned due to a separate conviction regarding his marriage to his third wife, Bushra Khan, which contravened Islamic traditions.
