Etihad Airways has reported transporting approximately 5.7 million passengers in the first four months of 2024, according to a statement released on Tuesday, May 14. This significant number reflects the airline's strong performance and growth trajectory.

In April 2024 alone, Etihad Airways carried over 1.4 million passengers, achieving an average passenger load factor of 84 percent. These figures are part of the airline's preliminary traffic statistics for that month.

The airline's fleet has also seen expansion, now comprising 89 aircraft that serve 68 destinations around the globe. This growth in both fleet size and destinations underscores Etihad Airways' commitment to meeting increasing passenger demand and enhancing its global reach.

Etihad Airways CEO Antonoaldo Neves commented on the airline's growth, stating, "In April 2024, we experienced 39 percent year-on-year growth in customers, further underlining our positive growth trajectory. This contributed to a four percent boost in load factor, despite a considerable increase in capacity compared to the same period in 2023."

Neves highlighted that the year-to-date (YTD) passenger figures, which stand at 5.7 million, are 41 percent higher than those recorded by YTD April 2023. This significant increase illustrates the airline's successful efforts in attracting more passengers and expanding its operations.

The CEO also emphasized the strong financial performance of the airline, noting that their earnings for the first quarter of 2024 are equivalent to the total net income for the entire fiscal year 2023. This robust financial standing is indicative of Etihad Airways' effective management and strategic growth initiatives.

"We continue to grow our network and our frequency to match customer demand," Neves said. He also mentioned the successful reintroduction of the popular Airbus A380 on the New York route in April. Furthermore, there are plans to add the A380 to flights to Paris starting from November 1. This move is expected to further enhance the airline's service offerings and meet the high demand on these routes.

In summary, Etihad Airways' impressive passenger numbers, fleet expansion, and strong financial performance in the early months of 2024 highlight the airline's successful growth strategy and its ability to adapt to and meet the evolving needs of its customers.
