In the bustling streets of Dubai, where the rhythm of life never seems to slow down, a new trend has emerged – the rise of Dh5 barbershops. Once confined to specific areas like International City, Sonapur, or Al Quoz, these budget-friendly salons have now proliferated across the city, popping up in every busy corner imaginable, from Karama to Deira. As prices for goods and services continue to climb, these barbershops have defied inflation, offering a shave or haircut for a mere Dh5.

Ahmed, a delivery rider, recently found himself drawn to one of these establishments after a late-night shift. Despite the late hour, the barbershop buzzed with activity, its brightly lit façade beckoning customers with bold Dh5 signs. Inside, Ahmed found a bustling scene, with patrons indulging in haircuts and beard trims. He opted for a shave, marveling at the affordability and convenience compared to purchasing razors and shaving cream.

Mohd Raza, a Pakistani businessman, stands at the helm of a chain of Dh5 barbershops across Dubai. For him, affordability is key. While the services may not rival those of high-end salons, they provide essential grooming at a fraction of the cost. Basic services like haircuts and shaves are priced at Dh5, with additional offerings such as hair coloring available for slightly higher fees.

The appeal of Dh5 barbershops extends beyond blue-collar workers to encompass white-collar professionals seeking value for their money. Raza takes pride in catering to a diverse clientele while maintaining cleanliness and adhering to sanitary guidelines. With branches spanning Deira, Al Nahda, Al Quoz, Al Quasis, and Al Barsha, Raza's barbershops operate late into the night, accommodating customers' busy schedules.

Barbers like Ali Raza, who works at a newly opened salon behind Mall of Emirates, embody the efficiency and speed characteristic of Dh5 establishments. Trained in Islamabad, Ali serves a steady stream of customers daily, multitasking to ensure swift service. Despite the simplicity of these barbershops, Ali notes their popularity stems from their affordability. However, he advises customers to bring cash, as credit cards are not accepted at most Dh5 establishments.

In a city where luxury often reigns supreme, Dh5 barbershops offer a refreshing alternative – a no-frills experience without the hefty price tag. As Dubai continues to evolve, these budget-friendly salons carve out their niche, serving as an accessible option for residents seeking quality grooming at unbeatable prices.
