Dubai Police Warn Against Dangerous Road Practices

Dubai Police issue a stern warning against risky road behaviors such as hanging out of car windows or sitting on moving car roofs. Violators face hefty fines and vehicle impoundment, with over 1,000 violations recorded last year.

Dubai Police Crack Down on Reckless Road Behavior

In response to a concerning trend of risky road behaviors, Dubai Police have issued a strong warning against dangerous practices that endanger lives on the road. Motorists are reminded that sticking any part of the body out of a moving vehicle, standing out of sunroofs, or sitting on car roofs while in motion constitutes a serious road safety violation.

Severe Penalties for Violators

Violators of these road safety regulations face severe penalties, including a hefty fine of Dh2,000, 23 black points on their license, and vehicle impoundment for a period of 60 days. Additionally, vehicle owners must pay Dh50,000 to release impounded vehicles. These measures aim to deter motorists from engaging in risky behaviors that not only endanger their lives but also pose a threat to others on the road.

Incidents and Consequences

Dubai Police highlighted the alarming statistics from last year, where five injuries were recorded due to individuals falling from moving vehicles. In total, authorities registered 1,183 violations related to dangerous road practices, leading to the impoundment of 707 vehicles. These incidents underscore the need for heightened awareness and adherence to road safety regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.

Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei's Statement

Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, emphasized the gravity of these dangerous behaviors. He warned against actions such as sticking out one's head or any body part from a vehicle window, standing out of sunroofs, or sitting on car roofs while the vehicle is in motion. Such practices pose significant risks not only to the individuals involved but also to other road users.

Preventable Accidents Through Compliance

Al Mazrouei stressed that many road accidents are preventable if motorists, passengers, and pedestrians adhere to traffic laws and regulations. Strict enforcement of these laws is crucial to maintaining road safety and preventing avoidable incidents that can result in injuries or fatalities. Dubai Police are committed to upholding the law and ensuring the safety of all road users through rigorous enforcement measures.

Appeal for Public Vigilance

Dubai Police urged the public to report any instances of road safety violations through the "Police Eye" service in the Dubai Police app or by contacting the "We Are All Police" service at 901. By remaining vigilant and reporting violations, individuals can contribute to creating safer road environments for everyone.

In conclusion, Dubai Police's crackdown on dangerous road practices serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to traffic regulations to prevent accidents and protect lives. Through strict enforcement and public vigilance, authorities aim to promote safer road behaviors and reduce the risk of harm on the streets.
