Dubai pilgrims experience Haj even before flying out
On May 30, the Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Islamic Culture in Dubai organized a unique event for 80 first-time pilgrims from the UAE. This event aimed to prepare them for their upcoming journey to Haj on June 11. The immersive session provided participants with a virtual "Haj experience," simulating the atmosphere and rituals of the holy pilgrimage.
One of the highlights of the session was the interactive room designed to guide pilgrims on the various stages of the Haj journey. From where to start to how to perform the rituals, the room offered comprehensive information and practical guidance. It even simulated the crowdedness of the Haj, helping pilgrims learn how to navigate through the bustling crowds.
Mohammed Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Head of the official Haj delegation of the Dubai Government, emphasized the importance of the immersive experience. He mentioned that the room was designed to make participants feel as if they were inside the Kaaba itself, with the added touch of emitting the distinct scent of the holy site.
In addition to the virtual experience, the pilgrims received medical checkups and guidance from a team of healthcare professionals. This ensured that they were physically prepared for the rigors of the pilgrimage. Hydration and health were emphasized, with medical staff advising against painkillers and stimulants like tea or coffee, which could exacerbate dehydration.
The medical team also verified that all pilgrims had received necessary vaccinations before their journey, prioritizing their health and safety. After the session, each pilgrim received a special bag containing essential items for their spiritual journey, including ihram garments.
Saeed Al Zaabi from the Al-Furqan campaign for Haj and Umrah highlighted the significance of preparedness for the pilgrimage. He emphasized that the Haj journey is unlike any other journey and is a deeply spiritual experience.
The 80 pilgrims selected for this event were chosen from various government offices and circles in Dubai. Haj, being one of Islam's five pillars, holds immense importance for Muslims, who are required to undertake it at least once in their lifetime if physically and financially able.
The organizers aimed to ensure that the pilgrims were fully prepared, both physically and spiritually, for this life-changing experience. Through the immersive session and medical checkups, they sought to provide comprehensive support to the pilgrims, enabling them to embark on their journey with confidence and peace of mind.
