Dubai has announced a holiday break for private schools, universities, and nurseries in observance of Eid Al Adha. These institutions will be closed from Saturday, June 15, to Tuesday, June 18, as per the announcement made by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) on Sunday. The academic activities will resume on Wednesday, June 19.
This break aligns with the broader public sector holiday previously declared by the Dubai government. Government employees will also enjoy a break starting from Saturday, June 15, until Tuesday, June 18, resuming their duties on Wednesday, June 19.
The announcement was followed by a similar notification from the Federal Authority of Human Resources, which confirmed the Eid holidays for government employees across the UAE. The public sector will observe these holidays to mark Arafah Day and Eid Al Adha, granting paid leave to employees from Saturday, June 15, through Tuesday, June 18.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) also declared that the private sector will observe Eid Al Adha holidays during the same period. Employees in the private sector will enjoy a four-day break starting from Saturday, June 15, until Tuesday, June 18.
Eid Al Adha, also known as the "Festival of Sacrifice," is one of the most significant Islamic holidays. It commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. However, God provided a ram to sacrifice instead. This festival is marked by communal prayers, feasting, and distributing meat to the poor and needy.
This holiday announcement allows families to plan their celebrations and gatherings in advance. Schools and educational institutions will have a brief recess, giving students and staff a chance to spend time with their families and participate in the festivities.
The coordinated holiday period for both public and private sectors underscores the importance of Eid Al Adha in the UAE, ensuring that citizens and residents can observe the festival's rituals and traditions without work-related interruptions. The break also provides an excellent opportunity for residents to engage in various cultural and social activities, enhancing the spirit of community and togetherness.
As the holiday approaches, residents are advised to stay updated with any further announcements or guidelines from relevant authorities to ensure a smooth and safe celebration of Eid Al Adha.
