Du services down? Hundreds of users report outage; operator clarifies
On Tuesday evening, UAE residents using Du services faced internet issues, with many unable to access applications on their devices. The disruption was reported by expats living in various areas, including Downtown Dubai, Bur Dubai, and Abu Dhabi.
According to Aman D, a resident of JVC, the trouble began around 7 pm. He mentioned experiencing difficulties playing music on YouTube both on his TV and phone. Similar connectivity issues were reported by his friends in other areas as well. Kareem Mazhar, sharing his experience on X, noted disruptions in Business Bay, with some mobile services also affected.
Downdetector recorded a surge in user reports around 7:30 pm, indicating widespread issues with Du services. Tina Saguil, a Dubai expat residing in Damac Hills 2, reported intermittent internet connectivity that eventually ceased altogether. Concerns arose among users, with some initially speculating about overdue bill payments before realizing the widespread nature of the problem.
Social media platforms quickly filled with reports of the disruption, prompting Du to issue a clarification. The telecom company stated that the brief disruptions were not caused by any outages or faults within their network. They assured users that they were actively investigating the incident and collaborating with partners and international internet service providers to determine its cause. Du emphasized their commitment to maintaining high network performance standards and ensuring vigilant oversight of their systems.
By 9:45 pm, users began reporting that services had returned to normal, indicating a resolution to the earlier disruptions. This incident highlights the importance of reliable telecommunications infrastructure, especially in a digital age where connectivity plays a critical role in daily life.
