Dh400 fine, 4 black points for violating road entry rules, police warn motorists
To enhance road safety in the emirate, Abu Dhabi Police have leveraged 3D Computer-Generated Imagery (CGI) technology to educate motorists about critical safety practices when entering roads. This initiative aims to reduce accidents and ensure smoother traffic flow.
The police have emphasized five essential rules that drivers should adhere to when approaching and entering roadways:
1. Slow down when approaching road entrances: Drivers are advised to reduce their speed as they approach road entrances. This reduction in speed provides additional time to assess the situation and react to any unforeseen circumstances, thereby minimizing the risk of accidents.
2. Use side warning signals: Properly using turn signals is crucial for communicating a driver's intentions to other road users. This practice helps in preventing misunderstandings and potential collisions, contributing to safer road conditions.
3. Be cautious of parked vehicles: When there is a vehicle ahead or parked near a road entrance, it is essential to slow down. Parked vehicles can obscure a driver’s view, making it harder to spot oncoming traffic or pedestrians, thus increasing the risk of accidents.
4. Give priority to vehicles on the main road: It is important to always give way to vehicles on the main road. These vehicles have the right of way, and failing to give them priority can lead to dangerous situations. This rule is fundamental in maintaining a smooth traffic flow and preventing collisions.
5. Ensure the road is clear: Before entering a road, drivers should double-check to make sure it is free of approaching vehicles. This final check is crucial in preventing accidents, as it ensures that the road is safe to enter.
In addition to promoting these safety guidelines, the Abu Dhabi Police have also outlined the penalties for failing to comply with these rules. If a driver enters a road without ensuring it is clear, they will face a fine of Dh400 and receive 4 black points on their driving record. More severe violations, such as entering a road dangerously, will result in a fine of Dh600 and 6 black points.
By adhering to these specified safety guidelines, drivers can significantly contribute to reducing accidents and enhancing overall road safety. The use of advanced technology by Abu Dhabi Police underscores their commitment to improving traffic conditions and ensuring the well-being of all road users.
Motorists are encouraged to stay informed about the latest traffic regulations and safety practices to avoid penalties and, more importantly, to protect themselves and others on the road.
