On Thursday, June 13, ahead of the Eid Al Adha celebrations, the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince approved a substantial allocation of housing benefits valued at Dh3.3 billion to assist 2,015 citizens in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. This marks the second housing package approved in 2024.
The package includes housing loans totaling over Dh3.046 billion, benefiting 1,766 citizens. Among these loans, 782 are designated for purchasing residential units within the Balghaiylam residential project. This initiative underscores the leadership's commitment to enhancing the living standards of Emirati citizens by providing significant financial support for housing.
Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, also sanctioned a decision to exempt senior citizens, low-income retirees, and families of deceased citizens from housing loan payments. This exemption amounts to more than Dh262.8 million and has directly benefited 249 citizens within the emirate. This measure aims to ease the financial burdens on these vulnerable groups, ensuring they have secure and stable housing.
The release of this year's second housing benefits package is timed to coincide with Eid Al Adha, reflecting the rulers' dedication to the well-being and happiness of Emirati families. Since the establishment of the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, the total value of housing benefits disbursed has reached over Dh152 billion, highlighting the significant investment in housing and infrastructure to support the citizens of Abu Dhabi.
Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, remarked on the importance of this initiative. "The distribution of this package highlights our leadership's continued dedication to improving the welfare of our citizens and their families and nurturing familial and social cohesion within the emirate while advancing its comprehensive development." He emphasized that such measures are crucial for fostering a sense of community and stability among Emirati families, which is a key component of the broader development strategy for the emirate.
Hamad Hareb Al Muhairi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, also commented on the significance of the housing benefits package. He stated, "The directives to distribute the second housing benefits package exemplify the priority of our leaders, showcasing their steadfast dedication to the well-being of Emirati citizens, which is a paramount focus on the national agenda." Al Muhairi noted that the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority is committed to continuously improving its programs and services to ensure that all citizens in Abu Dhabi have access to adequate housing. He emphasized that the authority's efforts are aligned with the leadership's vision to advance the housing sector and provide comprehensive support to the population.
This extensive housing benefits package is a testament to the UAE leadership's ongoing efforts to ensure that all citizens enjoy a high standard of living. By addressing the housing needs of its people, especially during significant cultural and religious occasions like Eid Al Adha, the government demonstrates its commitment to social welfare and community development. The allocation of substantial financial resources for housing underscores the importance placed on providing secure, comfortable living conditions for all Emiratis, fostering a stable and prosperous society.
