The Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Police have taken decisive action against dangerous driving behavior witnessed during heavy rains, seizing six vehicles involved in reckless stunts captured in a viral video. The drivers now face significant penalties, including fines, vehicle impoundment, and black points on their licenses.

Following heavy rainfall that caused flooding in various parts of the UAE, a video surfaced on social media showing six vehicles speeding through flooded valleys in Al Mazraa and Mina Al Arab. The reckless act drew widespread condemnation, prompting swift action from law enforcement authorities.

The RAK Police identified the vehicles and their drivers involved in the stunt, leading to their arrest and the imposition of strict penalties. According to authorities, the drivers now face a fine of Dh2,000, along with the confiscation of their vehicles for a period of 60 days. Additionally, they will receive 23 black points on their driving licenses, in accordance with federal laws addressing driving in flooded areas, irrespective of the perceived level of danger.

In a further crackdown on such hazardous behavior, the RAK Police invoked a recently enacted law in the emirate. Under this legislation, the seized vehicles will remain confiscated for an additional 120 days, extending the duration of the penalty. To reclaim their vehicles, the owners will be required to pay a hefty fee of Dh10,000.

This decisive action underscores the RAK Police's commitment to ensuring road safety and holding individuals accountable for endangering lives through reckless driving practices. By swiftly identifying and penalizing those involved in the stunt, authorities aim to deter similar behavior in the future and promote responsible driving habits among motorists.

The severe penalties imposed on the offenders serve as a stark reminder of the serious consequences of engaging in dangerous driving activities, particularly during adverse weather conditions. As the UAE experiences sporadic heavy rainfall, motorists are urged to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent accidents and protect lives.

Through robust enforcement measures and public awareness campaigns, authorities strive to create a safer road environment for all residents and visitors. By fostering a culture of responsible driving and zero tolerance for reckless behavior, they aim to mitigate road risks and ensure the well-being of the community at large.
