Careem App Trends 2023: From iPhone 15 Orders to Diwali Delights
The Careem app in the UAE revealed some intriguing customer trends from 2023, showcasing the diverse range of purchases made through the platform. Among the notable transactions, a resident avoided the hassle of waiting in queues by ordering the iPhone 15 and an Apple Watch Ultra 2 on the app, constituting the largest single Quik Groceries order at $2,042 (Dh7,500). Meanwhile, the highest expenditure on the app's DineOut feature was $20,420 (Dh75,000) at an Indian vegetarian restaurant, where a customer purchased gift boxes for Diwali.
In the Quik category, a single customer placed a remarkable 473 orders throughout the year, with the fastest delivery recorded at just one minute. The peak ordering times were between 7 pm and 9 pm, and the most frequently ordered items were water and bananas. Notably, the weight of bananas ordered in 2023 equaled the mass of over 1,000 gorillas, and the volume of drinking water ordered could fill an Olympic swimming pool. Additionally, the app witnessed an 80% surge in orders for healthy food in the UAE.
Careem Pay's international remittance service revealed interesting trends in money transfers. The most popular day for sending money to India and Pakistan was the last Thursday of the month. One customer sent a substantial amount of $76,389 to Pakistan throughout the year, and the fastest remittance transfer was completed in just 16 seconds for a transfer from the UAE to India.
In the realm of rides, the most popular intercity route was between Dubai and Sharjah. Customers in Dubai, Riyadh, and Amman were prone to forgetting items in Careem rides. Surprisingly, one of the most unusual items left behind by riders for the second consecutive year was a bridal dress, along with other items like a pillow, a ring, and a hair wig.
Among the bike riders on the platform, the most active rider completed an impressive 4,357 trips throughout the year, primarily delivering orders from the restaurant where they work in Jumeirah Lake Towers (JLT). The second most active rider completed 2,288 trips, primarily for their daily commute to work. The longest bike ride recorded in 2023 was by an adventure seeker who rode for 5 hours and 38 minutes around the Al Qudra bike track.
These insights highlight the diverse and dynamic usage of the Careem app, reflecting the varied preferences and behaviors of users in the UAE throughout the year 2023.
