Abu Dhabi Hindu Temple Inauguration
The Abu Dhabi BAPS Hindu Mandir (temple) is abuzz with excitement as it prepares for its grand inauguration on February 14th. The atmosphere is filled with religious fervor as hundreds of devotees gather to welcome His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, the spiritual leader of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, who will lead the Vedic ceremony to inaugurate the Middle East’s first traditional stone temple.
Mahant Swami Maharaj arrived in Abu Dhabi as a state guest from Gujarat, India, on a special flight. Upon his arrival at the Al Bateen Executive Airport, he was warmly greeted by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, along with other dignitaries and temple representatives.
A spectacular welcome awaited Mahant Swami Maharaj at the airport, where a troupe of dancers, drummers, and chanters performed the traditional Al-Ayyala. Expressing his gratitude for the warm reception, Mahant Swami Maharaj praised the leadership of the UAE for their kindness and hospitality.
At the temple, Mahant Swami Maharaj was greeted by hundreds of people, saints, and volunteers with heartfelt cheers, flowers, and chants. A brief welcome ceremony was held at the temple, where preparations are underway for the grand opening. Pujya Swami Brahmaviharidas, who has been overseeing the temple project, emphasized its significance as a “spiritual oasis for global harmony” that celebrates the past and shapes the future.
The BAPS Hindu Mandir project was envisioned by the late spiritual leader Pramukh Swami Maharaj during his visit to the UAE in 1997. Made possible through the generosity of the UAE government and its rulers, the temple stands as a testament to the spirituality and friendship between the UAE, India, and BAPS.
The inauguration will be marked by the ‘Festival of Harmony,’ a series of programs and community events from February 10th to 21st aimed at strengthening faith, promoting community service, and fostering harmony among people of all backgrounds.
