Above-normal temperatures expected from March to May due to El Nino
El Nino's Lingering Effects: Above-Normal Temperatures Expected
The recent El Nino phenomenon, one of the strongest on record, is forecasted to lead to above-normal temperatures globally from March to May. Although El Nino is waning, its residual impact, combined with greenhouse gases, will continue to fuel atmospheric heat. The United Nations' World Meteorological Organization (WMO) warns of intensified heatwaves and altered precipitation patterns, underscoring the climate-altering role of human-induced greenhouse gas emissions.
El Nino's Aftermath: Elevated Temperatures Persist
The United Nations' World Meteorological Organization (WMO) reports that the recent El Nino event, reaching its peak in December, ranks among the most potent on record. Despite its gradual decline, the ramifications of El Nino persist, contributing to an extended period of heightened temperatures worldwide. The WMO forecasts above-normal temperatures across landmasses from March to May, attributing this trend to the lingering effects of El Nino coupled with ongoing greenhouse gas emissions.
